Covid-19 Pandemic, Violence and Social Inequality in Nigeria.

The measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and prevent loss lives across globe include; lockdown schools, religious worship centres, business a general restriction movement people. lockdown, which involuntarily confined people different places abode has numerous effects on individuals society. This paper seeks examine how pandemic exacerbated violence social inequality in Nigeria attempts possible solutions problem. methodology includes review literature reports. findings show that, resulted heightened levels gender-related domestic closure all educational institutions left many young idle. Some these youths have ended upengaging inimmoral sexual activities with opposite sex. Children also suffered molestation harassment from predators. Newspaper reports revealan increasein cases rape society during this period. caused job losses salary cut translated into reduction government, private companies individuals’ revenue. situation affected families negatively as it led financial hardship homes increased misunderstandings various forms negative tensions Spousal violence, landlord-tenant house-owner house-help widows, boyfriend- girlfriend is now more commonplace Even though undeniable that gender-based had existed before pandemic, malaise been greatly aggravated by deadly disease.
